Day 1: Christmas Cove – Your Perfect Start

Begin your charter at Christmas Cove on St. Thomas, one of the Caribbean’s most picturesque and protected anchorages. This stunning natural harbor offers crystal-clear waters perfect for your first swim and snorkel of the trip. The cove’s calm conditions make it ideal for trying out the yacht’s water toys – paddleboards, kayaks, and snorkel gear. As you settle into island time, enjoy sundowners on deck while watching the sun paint the sky in brilliant tropical colors. The peaceful setting provides the perfect introduction to USVI sailing.

Day 2: Magens Bay – World-Famous Beauty

Sail to Magens Bay, consistently rated one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. This mile-long crescent of soft white sand is backed by lush green hills and protected by coral reefs, creating a natural swimming pool with calm, warm waters. The beach offers excellent facilities including beach chairs, snorkel gear rentals, and a beachside bar serving tropical drinks and local specialties. Families love the shallow, calm waters, while the nearby nature trail provides a chance to explore the island’s tropical flora and fauna.

Day 3: Maho Bay – Eco-Paradise

Cross to St. John and anchor at Maho Bay, located within Virgin Islands National Park. This eco-friendly destination is famous for its pristine coral reefs and incredible marine life. The shallow bay is perfect for snorkeling – you’ll spot sea turtles, colorful parrotfish, and rays of tropical fish in the crystal-clear waters. The beach offers excellent facilities while maintaining its natural beauty, and the nearby hiking trails lead through tropical forests to stunning overlooks. It’s nature at its most unspoiled.

Day 4: Coral Bay – Lime Out Experience

Discover St. John’s quieter side in Coral Bay, where local culture meets stunning natural beauty. This is where you’ll experience the famous “Lime Out” – the Caribbean art of relaxing and soaking up island life. The protected bay offers excellent swimming and snorkeling, while the nearby coral reefs showcase some of the USVI’s most vibrant marine life. Visit local beach bars for authentic Caribbean cuisine, fresh fish tacos, and cold drinks while mingling with locals and fellow sailors in this laid-back community.

Day 5: Salt Pond – Hidden Gem

Explore one of St. John’s best-kept secrets at Salt Pond Bay. This remote beach within Virgin Islands National Park offers a true escape from crowds, with pristine white sand and excellent snorkeling over healthy coral reefs. The short hike from the anchorage to the beach takes you through dry forest and offers glimpses of local wildlife. The crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming, and the secluded location provides an intimate Caribbean experience. It’s the perfect spot for a beach picnic and complete relaxation.

Day 6: Cruz Bay – Cultural Heart

Anchor in Cruz Bay, St. John’s charming main town and gateway to Virgin Islands National Park. Explore the colorful shops, art galleries, and restaurants that line the waterfront. Visit the Virgin Islands National Park Visitor Center to learn about the island’s natural and cultural history, then choose from numerous hiking trails that lead to secluded beaches and scenic overlooks. The town offers excellent dining options, from casual beach bars to upscale restaurants serving fresh seafood and Caribbean specialties.

Day 7: Water Island – The Fourth Island

End your charter at Water Island, the USVI’s “fourth island” and its best-kept secret. This small, quiet island offers beautiful Honeymoon Beach, consistently ranked among the Caribbean’s most beautiful beaches. The soft white sand and calm, clear waters are perfect for a final swim and beach relaxation. The island’s laid-back atmosphere and minimal development provide an authentic Caribbean experience. Take the short hike to scenic overlooks, or simply enjoy the beach bars and reflect on your week of island adventures.

Above Deck is a concept born out of a love for travel and sailing – we believe everyone should get intimate with the big blue, at least once.
